What are Neurotoxins?

Neurotoxins, also known as Neuromodulators and “Wrinkle Relaxers”, are prescription injectable medications that treat and prevent fine lines and wrinkles on the face caused by underlying muscle contraction. Results are temporary and can last anywhere from 6 weeks to 4 months depending on the individual.

Humans communicate both verbally and nonverbally with our unique facial expressions by moving the muscles in our face. These muscles are connected to our skin and the constant movement creates wrinkles and lines. By relaxing these muscles with Neurotoxins we can restore a youthful appearance to our skin. Our goal at Ohm is to provide effective treatment while maintaining a natural appearance.

How do neurotoxins work?

Neurotoxins work by blocking nerve impulses to facial muscles. This causes the muscles to relax and in turn smooths the skin and softens fine lines and wrinkles.

Is this procedure painful?

There is minimal to no discomfort with this procedure, and it is typically performed without anesthetic. However, if you prefer, we can apply a topical numbing cream prior to the procedure to further minimize discomfort.

Are Neurotoxins safe?

Neurotoxins used at The Ohm Aesthetic are FDA approved as safe and effective.

How Much will I need?

Neurotoxins are priced by the unit. Each treatment area requires different amounts and this can also vary greatly from person to person. During your consult we will create an individualized treatment plan based on your assessment to meet your goals.

Is there any downtime?

There is no downtime following treatment with Botox Cosmetic and Dysport. You may see small areas of swelling at your injection sites that will disappear within 30 – 90 minutes. Occasionally there is some bruising associated with the injection however we do everything we can to avoid that.
